    Thanks to a free energy audit, then a loan from the Carbon Trust, this 1970s-built sports centre was able to install new equipment to reduce its operating costs and environmental footprint, as well as offer a more modern experience for its visitors.

  • Newquay Zoo

    Baby Civit at Newquay Zoo

    Following an energy audit and some fascinating thermal imaging to highlight where heat was escaping, Newquay Zoo has undertaken an ambitious insulation programme. Also awarded a grant to install solar panels, the company is now saving some £3,500 on annual energy bills.

    Woodland Valley family sat in the grass

    The owners of this 170-acre organic farm, education and conference centre have made carbon savings through new technologies such as solar water heating. A large swathe of land has been given over to woodland and wetland, and they've opened up the site to a local allotment scheme.

    The tourist attraction and educational charity welcomes around a million visitors a year, but has set tough targets to reduce energy use by 25% and to be ‘waste neutral’. Eden is hoping to construct a geothermal power plant on site to heat the Biomes and produce electricity.
